Professional Dad
(6/6/08) Since my last update to Rick was seven years old, I figured I better send a new one. Lois and I still live South of Denver, but now we have two kids, Bryan, six and Kelly, four. After being laid off twice in the IT development world, I have been a professional dad for six years. I got tired of the commute ski patrolling (sometimes 5 hours to go 80 miles) and stopped three years ago.
It kind of coincided with my open heart surgery in May 2005 to repair a leaking valve that had become unmanageable. I have fully recovered from that and being that I can never not be involved in something, I became a volunteer firefighter (again). I am pretty involved as an engine company driver (engineer) and help train new recruits every year. It is pretty fun outdoing 21 year olds in PT at the age of 40.
I got the chance to see Mike Kimberly last year when he was out in Colorado Springs, so anybody coming through please drop a line, we have cocktails and bunks a plenty.
